In the browser, select Next to request confirmation from your phone.Close the Authenticator application and return to the browser (picture 2).
The Authenticator application opens and information page appears after a while. Select the link “Pair your account to the app by clicking this link” (picture 1). Click Next on “More information required” box. Log in with your Jamk email address and password. The app can be found from Android Play Store and Apple App Store. Download the Microsoft Authenticator application to your phone. For instructions on both different methods below, select the one you want. You can configure MFA either by using only mobile phone or by using a combination of mobile phone and computer. This page explains process with more details. You might also want to check frequently asked questions at the end of this page. You can enable MFA for your account by logging in to Office365 and then following instructions given there. If this is not done quickly enough, the deployment may fail and the process will need to start over. After starting the process, you will have few minutes to complete it. Alternative ways are a one-time code, a text message, or a phone call. In addition to regular username and password, a separate confirmation is required using mobile app. Strong authentication (MFA) allows safer login to services, as it makes it possible to prevent access to O365 account even if the ID/password is compromised. Other methods, such as accessing Office 365 via the desktop Outlook application, we are in the process of upgrading to modern authentication.In Jamk we require strong authentication in several services. Many technologies, such as accessing Office 365 email via a web browser, have already transitioned to modern authentication. Additional security measures such as Two-Step Login require an updated login experience. 
We are implementing multi-factor authentication to improve the security of our email systems. Please update your email app to use more secure methods. J- ITS will begin to disable Basic Authentication for users (in batches) in order to switch fully to Modern Authentication in August, 2022.Įffective Febru, security improvements will be made to the university email system to disable basic authentication. On OctoMicrosoft will begin disabling Basic Authenticate site wide.
